Lecture of prof. S.N. Abashin "Pilaf in the culture of Central Asia" and a master class on cooking pilaf.

As is known, the recipes of Uzbek and Tajik pilaf were included in UNESCO's intangible heritage list, many legends and stories are also known about this dish. Those legends were introduced by the Russian historian, ethnologist and anthropologist Sergei Nikolayevich Abashin. After all, pilaf is not just a tasty and satisfying dish, it is also an important element of ritual practice and social relations among the peoples of Central Asia. This evening we examined in detail the Khorezm variant of cooking pilaf, and of course with pleasure tried it!

Sergei Nikolaevich Abashin is a doctor of historical sciences, a Russian historian, an ethnologist and anthropologist, a professor of the faculty of anthropology, a specialist in the history and culture of Central Asia.

In the course of the evening, lovers of incendiary rhythms visited the master class on oriental percussion playing from the leader of the Samhey band Denis Kucherov. In the East, percussion instruments are given great importance, because rhythm is the basis of music. We all became convinced that a sense of rhythm is a skill that develops and trains. In the process of training our brain becomes more flexible, stress goes away and a great mood comes!

Denis Kucherov is the leader of the SAMHEY band, plays percussion instruments from India, Africa, Arabia, as well as electronic drums.
